What is this course about?In this course, you gain in-depth knowledge of Oracle application development. The extensive hands-on exercises provide you with valuable opportunities to practice solving business problems related to application development issues. You develop PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages and work with Oracle-provided utilities for application maintenance and security. You also work with a variety of error handling techniques. In addition, you gain an extensive background in tuning. You work with the tuning diagnostic tools, understand and influence the optimizer, work with indexes and alternative storage structures, and examine and work with many application tuning examples. What background should I have?This course concentrates on a selection of topics applicable to application development using Oracle. This is not an introductory course. If you are new to Oracle or want to review the basics of SQL and/or PL/SQL, you should take Course 926, Oracle® Database 11g: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction, or Course 925, SQL Programming Language: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction. You should have some background and experience working with a SQL-based RDBMS and a working knowledge of Oracle's PL/SQL.
