NEW COURSES FROM LEARNING TREE ENABLE IT SECURITY PROFESSIONALS
TO ACHIEVE NSA INFOSEC IAM AND IEM CERTIFICATIONS
RESTON, VA (June 12, 2008) Learning Tree International (NASDAQ NM: LTRE) today added two new courses to its IT security curriculum, entitled NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) and NSA INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM) respectively. The IAM and IEM Certifications that can be acquired upon successful completion of examinations at the conclusion of their respective courses, originated with the NSA’s (National Security Agency’s) development of the INFOSEC Assessment Training and Rating Program (IATRP), which is designed to train individuals in the assessment and evaluation methodologies outlined by Presidential Decision Directive 63 (PDD 63). This Directive specifies the civilian and governmental responsibilities of protecting the US Critical Infrastructure. In both courses, participants will be given the corresponding certification exam and, based on the proposed schedule, the two courses may be taken in sequence if desired. However, it is recommended that the IAM Certification be achieved before pursuing the IEM.
During the 2-day NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) course, attendees will cover:
- An overview of the INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM)
- The Vulnerability Discovery Triad assessment approach
- Goals of the IAM
- Performing the on-site assessment phase
- Post-assessment activities
- An overview of the INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM)
- Applying Technical Vulnerability Analysis to the IAM
- Purpose and overview of IEM
- Creating the Vulnerability Criticality Matrices
- Evaluation reporting
Both NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) and NSA INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM) are valuable for those involved in securing information systems, including auditors, consultants, managers and service providers who are involved in federal, state and local government, non-profit, and commercial and private sector information security systems.
NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) and NSA INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM) augment existing Learning Tree courses, including Security Awareness: Resisting Human Deception, Detecting and Analyzing Intrusions: Hands-On, Vulnerability Assessment: Protecting Your Organization, Hands-On Crystal Reports and Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures: Hands-On.
Learning Tree intends to begin presenting both NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) and NSA INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM) at its New York and Washington, DC-area Education Centers beginning in July 2008.
